The role of lathe coolant

1. Lubrication
Coolant can form a lubricating layer between the tool and the workpiece, reduce friction, improve machining accuracy, and reduce tool wear, especially in high-speed cutting or finishing.

2. Chip removal and cleaning
Coolant can wash away the debris generated during the cutting process, prevent chips from accumulating in the cutting area and affecting the machining quality, and also reduce the scratches on the workpiece surface caused by chips.

3. Rust prevention and protection
Coolant contains rust inhibitors, which can protect machine tools, tools and workpieces from rust caused by coolant or humid environment.

4. Improve machining efficiency
Since coolant can reduce temperature, reduce friction and take away chips, it can increase cutting speed and machining efficiency overall, while maintaining a good surface finish.
