The SZGH-880TC is a newly launched 3-axis economy CNC lathe controller designed for CNC lathes and router machines that require reliable absolute encoder support, a high I/O count, and on-site PLC ladder diagram editing in a cost-effective, factory-direct package. Built on SZGH's self-developed control platform — the same technology foundation used across the CNC1000TDc series — the 880TC adds the ability to view and edit PLC ladder diagrams directly on the 8.4-inch display without a PC, making it practical for maintenance engineers who need to modify machine logic at the control panel.

The 880TC supports 17-bit and 23-bit absolute encoders, meaning the machine retains axis position data after power-down and requires no homing cycle at startup — a time-saving advantage for production lathes running shift operations. With a 56×32 I/O architecture, the 880TC accommodates a wider range of machine peripherals and automation interfaces than entry-level controllers without moving to a more complex platform. PLC Ladder Diagram — Online Editing on the Display

The defining feature that separates the 880TC from entry-level lathe controllers is its ability to display and edit PLC ladder diagrams directly on the 8.4-inch screen at the machine. In most CNC controllers at this price level, PLC logic modification requires connecting a PC, running proprietary software, and uploading a revised program — a process that takes a maintenance engineer out of the production environment and adds delay to any machine logic change or fault diagnosis.

On the 880TC, the PLC ladder diagram is accessible from the control panel interface. A maintenance engineer can view the current ladder logic running on the machine, identify which rung is active during a fault, and make an edit directly at the panel — then confirm and restart without leaving the machine. Absolute Encoder Support — 17-bit and 23-bit

  • No homing cycle at startup — the controller reads the absolute position from the encoder on power-up and knows where each axis is immediately, without requiring the operator to move axes to a reference point

  • Position retained after e-stop or power failure — in the event of an unplanned power cut or emergency stop, the controller re-establishes the correct axis position on restart without any manual intervention

  • Faster shift start — for production lathes running two or three shifts, eliminating the homing cycle at each startup saves several minutes per shift and eliminates the risk of a homing error at the start of production

17-bit encoders are standard in most servo motor systems from major Asian servo manufacturers. 23-bit encoders are used in higher-resolution applications where finer position feedback is required for surface finish or dimensional accuracy. The 880TC supports both, making it compatible with a wide range of servo drive and motor combinations.

Grating Ruler Signal Feedback

In addition to encoder-based position feedback, the 880TC supports grating ruler (linear scale) signal feedback via differential signal input. Grating ruler feedback provides independent position verification of the actual axis slide position rather than the motor shaft position — eliminating the effect of ballscrew wear, backlash, and thermal expansion on dimensional accuracy.
